Allowing Yourself to Grow!

Allowing yourself to grow:
I hate change! I hate when things have to be different.  It can be hard to consider yourself a strong person, but sometimes you don't have a choice. You know what I mean?  Being in College change comes every semester, you have new classmates, new schedule, new friends, sometimes a new apartment, etc. Change comes throughout all of life, in the workforce, in high school, and even just in the home. So why do we not like it?

Why change is scary:
Change is scary because we are human.  Like in Christina Perri's song "Human" we can only take so much.  We want to be able to handle more in life, but we're not God... thank goodness. We fear change because of the unknown, we are a people who want to know that everything is going to be okay.  Change, however, has no absolute.

How to handle it:
So how should we look at it when we are people who don't like change? Think back to past situations, remember how you felt scared then? Now look to where you are now, do you see how you have grown since then? We fear the unknown, but the unknown is how we live, it is everywhere, it is part of who we are.  Everyday is unknown, and if we look at change from that perspective, we can face it with more courage.

Grow:
Change brings growth. Allow the change to happen, so that you allow yourself to grow.

Perspective!

Seeing things from a different perspective:
Guess what... we're only human.  I know that was shocking to hear. We can so easily get caught up in what is going on around us that we begin to break down and not function properly.  That is why it is so important to step back and get a new perspective of the situation.

Me:
I am insanely blessed with a wonderful family, and wonderful friends.  I find myself quite often getting caught up in situations that aren't necessary because I'm not looking at them from different perspectives.  My friends and family have always been so helpful as to show me the situation differently or from there perspective of it.

Why do this?:
By getting a different perspective you see things more clearly or at least they don't seem as bad.  It gives you a chance to step back from the situation and maybe see that there is a better way of handling it.

How to do this:
1.  Talk to somebody about it.  Make sure that its someone you trust and someone who you know gives good advice.  Its best that its somebody that you're close to, that way they know your personality and can put that in account to the advice they give.  It is important to get a fresh pair of eyes on the situation.

2.  Get away.  What ever it is that is going on, unplug yourself from the situation and get away.  Spend a day at the park or with different people.  Go see a movie or play a sport of some type to get your mind free.  My go to place is usually bowling:)

3.  Pray.  People underestimate the power of prayer all the time, yet prayer is even where nonbelievers go when they feel helpless and desperate.  Because we are only human we can't help but hope that there is a greater power above us.  Who better to turn to in trying times than the Lord and Creator of life.

4.  Exercise.  It is proven that exercise is not only good for losing weight but for therapy as well.  Whenever I feel overwhelmed or under a lot of stress due to situations I always go on a walk. It helps me clear my mind and place my thoughts on other, more important things.

5.  Write it down.  By writing it down you can sometimes see your viewpoint of the situation, then try to consider other sides by writing them down as well. This can help you understand how to handle the situation maybe in a better way than what you already were.

Goodluck:)

Monday Funday!

Strawberry Time:
Oh my goodness, if you know me you know that I absolutely LOVE strawberries! I will eat them with/on/in/anything.  So lately I had one of my roommates give me an idea.  She knew how much I loved dipping strawberries in white chocolate.  So she said why not you cut the stems off and drop the whole thing in the chocolate.... BRILLIANT! Obviously it needed a little more thought otherwise it would be extremely messy.  So here is what I came up with:

Here is what you need:
Plate
Knife
Strawberries (Obviously)
Your choice of chocolate
Toothpicks
Bowl

Cut the stems off the strawberries, then cut them in half.

Melt your Chocolate. I melt mine in 30 second periods, it makes it the way I like it!

Take the toothpick and put in through the strawberry down the middle. Then dip the strawberry in the chocolate.  Be careful to not slide the strawberry off the toothpick while dipping.

Pretty!

I dipped a couple regular strawberries for the edge of the plate to make it pretty and have options! These are great for parties or showers, or any holiday.

Hope you enjoyed!

Saying Goodbye!

NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!
Say it is not so:
Seasons come and seasons go, so how do we say goodbye to them as they pass us by? Well by knowing that they will soon come again.
Focus on the season to come, which is fall in this case.  Fall is such a great time of the year.  The smells and colors, PSL's at starbucks... (That's pumpkin spice lattes). Scarves, boots, and over sized sweaters. Yes! I am all about focusing on the positives and not the negatives. It is sad that summer is gone, but keep your eyes focused on what is to come!

Today's Outfit:
I kept it simple today, with a cute swimsuit coverup and my favorite floppy hat.  Simple, cute, and a great way to kiss summertime goodbye.

Farewell.

Friyay!

Oh I am so excited about this post!!
This is going to be super fun!
To begin, did you know that colors mean something? Its okay neither did I!
Whats your favorite color? Find it on the list and what its meaning is! Oh and have fun!

Pink:
Pink, a delicate color that means sweet, nice, playful, cute, romantic, charming, feminine, and tenderness, is associated with bubble gum, flowers, babies, little girls, cotton candy, and sweetness. The color pink is the color of universal love of oneself and of others.

Purple:

Purple combines the calm stability of blue and the fierce energy of red. The color purple is often associated with royalty, nobility, luxury, power, and ambition. Purple also represents meanings of wealth, extravagance, creativity, wisdom, dignity, grandeur, devotion, peace, pride, mystery, independence, and magic

Green:

Green is the color of nature. It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety. Dark green is also commonly associated with money.

Blue:

Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body.

Orange:

It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation. To the human eye, orange is a very hot color, so it gives the sensation of heat. Nevertheless, orange is not as aggressive as red.

Red:

Red, the color of blood and fire, is associated with meanings of love, passion, desire, heat, longing, lust, sexuality, sensitivity, romance, joy, strength, leadership, courage, vigor, willpower, rage, anger, danger, malice, wrath, stress, action, vibrance, radiance, and determination.

Yellow:

Yellow, the color of sunshine, hope, and happiness, has conflicting associations. On one hand yellow stands for freshness, happiness, positivity, clarity, energy, optimism, enlightenment, remembrance, intellect, honor, loyalty, and joy, but on the other, it represents cowardice and deceit.

Brown:

The color brown relates to quality in everything - a comfortable home, the best food and drink and loyal companionship. It is a color of physical comfort, simplicity and quality. It is friendly and approachable. It is loyal, trustworthy and dependable in a practical and realistic way.  Brown is honest, genuine and sincere. It relates to the hardworking, the industrious and reliable, with both feet planted firmly on the ground.

Black:

The black color is the absence of colorBlack is a mysterious color that is typically associated with the unknown or the negative. The color black represents strength, seriousness, power, and authority.

Gray:

Gray conforms - it is conventional, dependable and practical. It is a color of maturity and responsibility, associated with the gray hair of old age. It will never be the center of attention, the dynamic leader or the director - it is too safe and toned down.

Today's Outfit:

Today's Outfit is a gorgeous pink (my favorite color) dress. It will be worn for a nice dinner on the ship.  This dress was purchased from Dillard's as well as the shoes.

Welcome to College!

Welcome to College!

Don't worry it's not as scary as it seems.
You know how the first day of school is so scary cause you know no one, and you have to find your group of friends on the first day of school or you are alone for months? Not to mention walking into class and everyone stares at the new kid... Well college is nothing like that!! To be completely honest, no one cares who you are, or even if you show up.  Most of the time people don't even talk to each other. So no one really cares if they have friends in class.

This does not take away the scary part of college I know, but just wait!
Here I will list the need to knows about college, and how to survive your first semester!

1.  Nerd Alert! First off there is nothing wrong with being a nerd, and believe it or not everyone is there to either learn, or party till they drop out of college. So don't be afraid to spend some time in the library, trust me you'll need it!

2.  Pay attention!  What the professors say is actually important and they can tell who is actually listening vs. who is not.  And professors see you taking interest and putting forth effort, they will help you out.

3.  Roommates!  They can be difficult (so I hear) so try to be easy going. Not everything has to be a argument.  And if you get along very well, still make sure to spend time with other people as well.

4.  Talk to people!  Most likely people will not talk to you in class unless you start the convo, so don't be afraid because trust me, they want to talk as much as you do.  This way you can exchange notes with them and possibly study together.  Surprise you have a friend!!!

5.  Get involved!  There always tons of clubs and groups you can join at college so find one that suits you and get involved! Plus this is a great way to meet people because they will actually talk to you!

6.  Balance!  Friends are important, yes. Fun is also important, yes. School is very important, yes. So how do we balance all of this?  By being organized.  It is super important to understand that sometimes it is okay to say no to friends on a night that an assignment is due.

7.  Organization!  This helps with the balance part.  However I am mostly referring to school.  It is so important to stay on top of assignments and make sure they are turned in on time.  Plan out plenty of time to study EVERY day.  Never wait till the last minute, that is when something fun with your friends always seems to pop up and you can't go.

8.  Stay healthy!  Eat right, I know this seems hard on a college budget, however it is not.  You just have to get creative.  Also exercise is very important, go to the gym with friends or to the park. But stay active!

Good Luck!

Try it on Tuesday!

Express Yourself:
Now you ladies know how I am about my "Try it on Tuesday's". This is something I feel very strongly about.  I feel that all women should feel confident enough to try on those items that may scare them a bit. There is a hidden secret with this outfit that I was worried, and self-conscious about.  I am not exactly the girl who walks around in crop tops, I feel all exposed and want to go into hiding. However I think there is a time and place where they can be appropriate.  For example a cruise, or beach. I am stepping out of my comfort zone and expressing myself through trying new things and new looks!

Today's Outfit:
Today's outfit will be worn to a more casual dinner on the ship.
The adorable blazer I am wearing is from the amazing Dillard's .  I fell in love with it when I saw it. It's so unique and different, especially with the sleeves cut off.
The white jeans are from one of my favorite boutiques Lotus.
And the hidden secret is my new crop top from another great boutique called U&I Boutique

Monday Funday!

Week of Fashion:
This week I am doing things slightly different.  Currently I am gone on a cruise and enjoying laying out under the sun and enjoying life at sea!  So throughout the week I will be blogging about different stuff while showing you my cruise wear and where I got it from.

Cruising through life:
I am so excited I am on my trip for many reasons. Firstly, this is my first vacation in years, and I am so thankful I get to relax and enjoy myself.  Also my entire family is here...I mean my entire family, there is about forty-one of us. I cannot wait to tell you all about it when I return.

Today's Outfit:
Today's outfit is one that I will be wearing to our nice fancy smancy dinner on the ship.  I got this dress from a little boutique called Lotus .  It is by far one of my favorite places to shop, they are always stocked with such cute things. Visit their website and tell me what you think.

Friyay!

Do what you love, and love what you do!

Since I was nine years young I knew I wanted to be a Interior Decorator.  Decorating has always been a passion of mine.  Along with decorating, fashion is one of my greatest hobbies.  I am definitely one to always dress up, not saying that I don't wear T-shirts and shorts, but if I am going somewhere I will always look my best.  Along with many other hobbies and passions of mine such as Auburn, Cooking, DIY, Being out doors, etc.. Blogging has been a place where I can express myself, my passions and my hobbies with the world.  Not that I have the most exciting life to share, however I do like it and enjoy sharing it with you all.

This is what I love, and I love doing this.

Find what you are passionate about, what your hobbies are, then go after them.  Chase your dreams and what inspires you. "Don't let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game"  Life is short, therefore we should live it to the fullest. So take my advise and do what you love!

Happy Friday!

See the Beauty!

Everyone has heard the saying "Stop and smell the roses"  well today I'm telling you just that!
Every American has their daily routine, wake up, eat breakfast, go to work/school, eat lunch, get off work or out of school, eat dinner, go to bed, repeat. Not to mention the routines hidden in between that list.
I have been talking recently to a friend of mine who can't seem to shut his brain off.  He talks about how his mind is going non-stop, and that he needs a break (having been in college for six semesters in a row). The saying mentioned earlier was the first thing that came to my mind when I was listening to him speak.
I am just the type of person who loves to find the beauty around me, its a trait I got from both my mother and her father (my grandfather). I love watching how the trees change with the seasons, finding shapes in the clouds and my favorite... studying flowers and how not a single one is just like another.  By focusing on these small simple things, I am more content, and at peace, which is a lot to be said for a college student.
My advice to you is this, as you go out today and begin your daily routine, stop for a moment and smell the roses. Then sit back and watch how much better you feel throughout the day.  By focusing a little bit of your time on these simple things, you will learn not to stress as much.

"Roses are red, Violets are blue, I see the beauty, Hope you do to."

War Eagle Wednesday!

Construction in Auburn is EVERYWHERE!!!!!
And Aubie is even helping out!
The famous Toomers Corner has been under construction all summer long.  Toomers Corner is a very big part of Auburn.  It is located downtown Auburn, and is home to lots of boutiques and restaurants.  The most special part about it is that it is home to our famous Oak Trees. After every won game Auburn plays we go to the Oaks and Roll them to show our Auburn Pride.  Thousands of people gather in this small corner of a street and join together in chants and excitement over our Tigers.

Currently due to the construction our sidewalks are blocked off and the street has been removed.
We are all very excited to see the new Toomers Corner!

Come join us in Auburn during the fall and see how wonderful our town is.  You wont just be a guest, but you will become part of the family! Gather with us in our lovely Toomers Corner and join in the Pride of our Tigers.

WAR EAGLE!
