A Fun Christmas Tradition!

Pickle featured above can be found for sale at amazon.
A fun Christmas Tradition:
So the other day I heard about this adorable Christmas tradition that happens in Germany.  I can't wait to make it a tradition in my apt this year, and I hope it becomes one for you to! So here it is...

The tradition is that on Christmas Eve you hide a pickle ornament deep into the heavily decorated Christmas tree.  Its the last ornament to be hung by parents. On Christmas Morning the child who finds the pickle first receives an extra Christmas gift from St. Nicholas. And for the adults whomever found it first would receive good luck for the whole new year!

This tradition has many versions but are all similar in a way.. the main point behind the pickle tradition is that people stop and take the time to admire the beautifully decorated tree. This tradition seems so fun and exciting for everyone to be a part of.

Hope you enjoyed!

Lets Get Ready For Christmas! (Step 1 of 13)

Lets Get Ready for Christmas!
Step 1:
Decorate! Nothing says Holiday spirit like decorating for Christmas. Usually my mother and I decorate during the week of Thanksgiving, however this year we didn't really have time yet to start on our house because we were decorating for a business office for their annual Christmas party.

So I am going to give you the steps that I take to have an amazing, wonderful, and traditional (in my family) Christmas.

Here is what we've done so far this year for decorating.

A Christmas Carol!

A Christmas Carol:
Last night I went with my grandparents and parents to see the play "A Christmas Carol".  We love the Holiday Season and when I'm home we immediately get started decorating and enjoying the festivities.

They had everything decorated so pretty inside.  The play was at (ASF) Alabama Shakespeare Festival.  ASF always puts on the best  plays that are good for both adults and children!

They had this adorable lady with her stand selling homemade popcorn of all different flavors.

They had this station set up for the kiddos to write letters to Santa. Overall it was an amazing night and the play was so enjoyable. The time spent with my grandparents was very nice to, I don't see them very often so when I do it is so nice!

Merry Christmas!

Things Are Not Always What They Appear to Be!

Not what it appears:
We have all heard this saying a thousand times.. "Not everything is what it seems!" Way too often we let our judgements get in the way of life.  We think we know what is, and what will be.... one problem, we're not God!

Way too often I find myself passing judgement on a situation before I fully understand all sides of it.  There are times when I pass judgement on a person before I really get to know them.  And there are times when I pass judgement on myself and give myself a hard time that I don't deserve.

Everyone struggles with at least one of those examples listed above! Why is it we are so quick to judge?

"Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”

"Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God?"

I believe it is because we try to make ourselves feel better by pointing out others flaws, such as the example in the Bible that says remove the plank out of your own eye before pointing out the speck in anothers.  We are to love one another, care for one another, not hurt each other!

So I challenge you today, go to work or school or wherever, and give a compliment to someone you're normally quite hard on, and see how different of a day you have!

Have a Good Day!

Seeking Inspiration!

Seeking Inspiration!
Well y'all this isn't a normal post for me but I certainly hope that you enjoy it. Lately I have noticed myself going through life seeking inspiration from anything... and I mean anything! With my major being Interior Design I am constantly having to have new ideas and think outside box.  But I'm officially drained! I have no inspiration anymore...

Or do I?

That is one of the funny things about life, we can feel drained and hopeless, but if we would just open our eyes a little wider or even for one second managed to step out of our comfort zone, we would see that the entire world is full of answers for us! We're just too blind to see it!  We look in the wrong places, and we get all caught up in life and what we're doing that we miss the big picture staring us in the face.  My inspiration was at the tip of my nose, I just had to focus a little more to be able to see it. But once I did, my ideas were pouring out of me and into the world!

My point to all of this is that no matter how tired you are, or drained and hopeless, don't give up! Giving up is the worst possible thing you could do.  Because nothing ever comes from giving up, so keep trying, keep seeking the inspiration you need to keep going. I promise you if you're looking hard enough, one day you will find what you're looking for!

Hope you enjoyed!

College Bucket List!

College Bucket List:
College is a great time of life and a time of life that should be remembered for its fun memories. One of the greatest ways to make your college experience is to create a bucket list. This list can't be something that has happened before or is something that happens frequently in your life.  Here is what I put on my list for college... check it out!

Go through a drive through backwards.
See a meteor shower.
Road trip with your best friends.
Cook random things together and invite your friends to see who is brave enough to eat it.
Slide down the stairs on a sled.
Climb a building on campus.
See a local band.
Go to games.

Hope you enjoyed!

How to Balance Blogging and College the Right Way!

Balance:
Balance is something that everyone is looking for in life, and in every aspect of life.  Between school, friends, family, work, kids, etc. It is so hard to keep everything/everyone balanced. With me being a college student, I find it very difficult to balance college and friends, let alone blogging as well.

College:
College is a time when you have fun, learn stuff (says the college professors..) and get a degree along with a life time of memories. And the same could be said for work, kids, etc. this doesn't just apply to college students. Yet then you throw blogging into the mix which is a part time job, things get off balanced.

The Right Way:
Instead of blogging everyday maybe pick two or three days a week to do posts.  Using weekends to write your posts is great so that you don't have to stress out about them during the craziness of the week.  Also you can put more thought into them instead of writing them last minute. Get your friends and family in on the blogging, my friends are always more than willing to be apart of my blog.

Hope you enjoyed!

7 Benefits of Having Courage!

7 Benefits to having courage:
A lot of people say "hey I got courage" but do they really? Courage is a word used now a days too lightly.   Courage is something that can make your life great or horrible, it is all based on how you use it.

There is no such thing as "not good enough" so go ahead and clear that from your mind. Moving on, "YOU" are great, beautiful, smart, worthy.  How does that make you feel? You feel slightly more confident hearing those words spoken to you? Of course you do, because words have power!

"You are NOTHING" Focus on those words, you are WORTHLESS, UGLY, DUMB! Now how do you feel? You want to go crawl under a rock and cry? Well yeah! No one can hear that and not be effected by those words.

You're probably wondering what this has to do with courage... well everyday (sadly) people are being told these words in many forms.  Through others actions, words, and thoughts. The worst part is that people believe it and let it control them or control their day. AND THATS NOT OKAY!

Words have power rather if we like it or not, so we need to learn how to control the words we use.  Speak words of life to others even people who beat you down with their words.  Lift them up and I guarantee they will begin lifting others.

7 Benefits:
1. You feel more confident. (It takes more to bring you down than usual)
2. You see things differently. (The glass is half full, the sun is brighter, hey thats a pretty rock!)
3. You lift others up. (People always need encouraging so give others what they need)
4. You gain experience. (Courage brings you to take chances you normally wouldn't and you grow from it new experience)
5. You are more successful. (People are always looking to hire or promote people who show true courage)
6. You're admired. (People notice when others have courage, and they in return try to model themselves after them)
7. You are truly HAPPY. (Having courage brings happiness and joy to your life, and makes it worth living)

Being Thankful with Pillsbury!

Being thankful with Pillsbury:
This month is by far my favorite month of the year! Why? Well mainly because of what it stands for.... being thankful.  It is a month that people actually take time to be thankful for all that they have in life.  And lets be honest, we all have so much to be thankful for no matter who we are. Pillsbury is more than ready to help all of us be more thankful and spend thanksgiving the right way, surrounded by our families and loved ones at the table.

Food time:
Another thing that makes this month so wonderful is thanksgiving day. FOOD!!!! If you're as lucky as I am than you come from a family of excellent cooks! Food is HUGE in our family so you have to bring something really good to impress everyone.  This year I have been testing around with different foods and thanks to Pillsbury I found the perfect dish to make.

Garlic Parmesan Biscuit Pumpkins:
This year I am making "Garlic Parmesan Biscuit Pumpkins" -said in an Italian accent, also known as (GPBP).  I found all of my Ingredients at Publix at such an amazing price!
Ingredients:
Garlic Powder
Salt
Parsley
Oregano
Pillsbury Biscuit
Parmesan Cheese
Butter
Pretzel Rods

Next you flour the work space! Then layout your biscuits and stretch them out to roll.

Next mix together a teaspoon of garlic powder, parsley, and oregano... or if you're me add a whole lot more till your heart is satisfied! Half a teaspoon of salt, three tablespoons of parmesan cheese... or three hand fulls if you're me... in a bowl and mix well.  Melt two tablespoons of butter... four cough cough.
Then put your butter on the biscuits, then your mix.

Now roll up your biscuits then push them down to make them fat. Heat your oven at 425 degrees and pop them in for 10-12 minutes.

Now, this part is optional! You can (if you're me) melt more butter and spread it on the top, then add more mix on top for a pretty look to your pumpkin.  After you choose to either do that or not, add your pretzel rods for the stems then DONE!

This was absolutely one of the most delicious biscuits I had ever had! I hope you love it as much as I did!

Hope you enjoyed!
