A Fun Christmas Tradition!

Pickle featured above can be found for sale at amazon.
A fun Christmas Tradition:
So the other day I heard about this adorable Christmas tradition that happens in Germany.  I can't wait to make it a tradition in my apt this year, and I hope it becomes one for you to! So here it is...

The tradition is that on Christmas Eve you hide a pickle ornament deep into the heavily decorated Christmas tree.  Its the last ornament to be hung by parents. On Christmas Morning the child who finds the pickle first receives an extra Christmas gift from St. Nicholas. And for the adults whomever found it first would receive good luck for the whole new year!

This tradition has many versions but are all similar in a way.. the main point behind the pickle tradition is that people stop and take the time to admire the beautifully decorated tree. This tradition seems so fun and exciting for everyone to be a part of.

Hope you enjoyed!

  2. Fun! We don't do a pickle because it's just the two of us but I'd like to do something fun like that.

As an aside - on mobile that green text with a red highlight is really, really difficult to read. I don't know if regular users have the same problem or not but you might want to look at that.

  10. I have a pickle!! But it wasn't for that purpose. It was because my oldest daughter was given Pickle as a nickname! I also have a baked potato as I loved them growing up.

  12. We do something similar. A couple of years ago Hallmark sold an ornament that locked. You put something inside Christmas Eve and they hide the key somewhere on the tree. The first person to find the key, gets the prize inside.
