Three Ways to Feel Powerful:

Lets be real, real quick... Life is full of reasons for us to feel powerless. Rather it be in the work field, school, family, friends, etc.  Feeling powerless surrounds us each and every day, and is constantly trying to find more ways to make us feel defeated. One way I have seen the attack on people in life has been from words.  Think about it... Most of the time when you find yourself feeling powerless its because of something that someone has said to you. There are different forms of this, there are the forms of it coming from a boss or professor saying you have one hour to do the impossible... in that case GOOD LUCK! in other cases it comes from people who just do it to be mean.

So here we go...

#1. The sooner you realize only you have control of yourself, and your life, the better. This makes it harder for people to steal your joy, and hurt your feelings. 

#2. Most likely the person who is trying to make you feel powerless is in fact the one that IS powerless, their words, therefore, are empty and hold no power at all. A great example to compare this to is your average bully, most likely the reason they bully is because they themselves are bullied.

#3.  Pray for those people, love those people, and don't give up on those people. They know not what they do.

Just by realizing these things can truly help you feel more Powerful, more in control, and overall more happy.

A Birthday fit for a Queen! And thats exactly what it was. Over the weekend I celebrated my 21st Birthday with my amazing family and boyfriend.  My family surprised me with amazing dinners and experiences.  It was truly one unforgettable Birthday.

All of my friends have these books, my brother and sister have these books, and why not? It is after all something we all did as a child.  I don't know of a single person who hasn't done this and now its coming back but specifically for grownups.

Coloring books!

Everyone loves these grownup color books. Its something to do with your friends and family, or even just by yourself. These coloring books are therapeutic and lots of fun at the same time.  I got mine from Paisley and Hazel. She makes her own designs and her story behind her shop is truly amazing.

Anna, an elementary art teacher, designed coloring sheets for her students to have as a prize for completing their work. Each book is a work of art of her hand drawn talent and she perfects each drawing.  Check out her amazing shop and books!

Why I Have the Best Major!

Why I Have the Best Major:

Here are just a couple reasons why  I have the best major!

All of my life I have grown up with a mother and grandmother who did a lot of decorating and party planning and I knew exactly what I wanted to be.

An Interior Decorator.

One of my favorite parts about my major is that my "school" (human sciences) is full of amazing teachers who care about the students succeeding.  They are all kind and take time to help each student fully understand and complete their work.
Here are a few more reasons...

You get to create random Egyptian art!

You get to tour construction sites and wear hardhats!

You work in a studio with all of the other design students.

If you're lucky like me, you have people who will to you.

You have fun with your teachers assistants...

You take tours of buildings to admire their beauty!

Your teacher brings you cookies that his wife made in her bakery.

Oh Yeah!
And you build lamps out of cardboard...
that actually work...





So there you have it. Sometimes its stressful, actually all of the time. And the work isn't easy, but I have a passion for it. Which makes it all worth it to me!

Every person in life has stuff, this stuff doesn't mean much unless its personal.  One of the greatest successes in life has been to personalize a persons everyday item so that it means more and adds style to that item.  Towels and clothes are being monogramed, people are putting their names on everything.  But why?

Getting Back in The School Flow

Ugh its that time again...

Christmas and the New Year is over and Spring Semester of school is starting back. So how do we go from vacation mode to school mode..

This past week I've been in denial that school is starting back, I just haven't felt ready.  With having a lot on my mind and dreading my classes this semester, Ive just been wishing it wasn't time to start back yet.  However I have no control over that.

This tends to happen to me every semester, and here is how I get myself ready.  I first begin by planning out each day. I plan my meals and if I have lunch or dinner with any friends, I plan my classes and time to study, I plan trips to the grocery store and I plan time with friends on the weekends. 

Having everything I do written out helps me feel more prepared and on top of things throughout the semester, and before I know it I find that I'm in school mode without even feeling the transition.  Whats funny is I use the same method with blogging a lot...

Finding Your College Roommates!

Finding Your College Roommate:

Let's be real, your college roommate can either make or break your college experience.  It is so important to room with someone that you get along with. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you have to be best friends with them, but you should get along. 

I know of so many people who are roomed with people who are nothing like them, therefore they don't get along and it causes so much drama. I even know of people who have had to call the cops on their roommates. Luckily I am not one of those people...

Here's my story...

I came to Auburn University not knowing anyone, as most college students do. My first two months were spent in the classrooms longing for the weekends to come so I could drive home.  The few weekends I did spend there I tried out a couple of churches but nothing stuck.  I lived with my older cousin who had their own life. So naturally we got along but we still had separate lives. 

Finally the day came,

I found my church home. The Auburn Church of Christ was exactly where I was meant to be. Everyone welcomed me with open arms and immediately made me feel like I belonged.  It wasn't hard to get involved and we had an amazing minister. Through my church I was able to find three of my best friends. These three girls later became my roommates. I could not be more grateful for these girls, and the times and memories we have shared together.

Obviously there will be trials with anyone, but I know with these three amazing girls we can get through whatever may come our way.

If you're new to college my tip to you for finding a good roommate is to find a good church first.
